In rooms with sensitive electronics, even a small spark of static electricity can cause damage. An ESD floor, also known as an anti-static floor, prevents this.
ESD stands for electrostatic discharge. When someone walks across a floor or moves a chair, static charge builds up. If that person or object then touches equipment, the charge discharges in a fraction of a second. For people it is at most a small shock, but sensitive electronics can be damaged by it, sometimes without you noticing straight away.
An ESD computer floor carries charge to earth in a controlled way. The panel floor covering is conductive or dissipative, and the panels are connected through the pedestals to an earthed substructure. This stops static charge from building up and lets it drain away safely.
There are broadly two versions: conductive, which drains charge quickly, and dissipative, which does so more gradually. Which version you need depends on the equipment and the requirements of the room.
An ESD floor only works properly if the floor covering stays conductive. Ordinary floor wax or polish can form an insulating layer and reduce its performance. Use cleaning products suitable for ESD floors and have the performance checked periodically. Damaged or replaced panels must also be properly reconnected to the earthed substructure.
Anomalie supplies computer floors and system floors in ESD versions and also replaces panels in existing ESD floors.
In rooms with sensitive electronics, such as data centres, server rooms, cleanrooms, laboratories, control rooms and electronics production areas.

No. The floor covering itself must be conductive or dissipative, such as conductive vinyl or a special ESD carpet. A standard finish can cancel out the floor's ESD performance.
Often, yes. We replace panels or the floor covering with an ESD version and make sure all panels are properly connected to the earthed substructure.
